One of the most important responsibilities of a system operator is the ability to monitor the system such as system performance, current system resources, networking, linkset, link, routeset, and route status, and so on. The DSC - SP2000 Platform provides interfaces to perform these tasks.
The monitoring information that can be obtained for the DSC - SP2000 Platform depends on the given DSC - SP2000 Platform and respective software release.
The Integrated Monitoring Feed (IMF) feature forwards pertinent MSUs as they enter or exit the DSC - SP2000 Platform in sequential order to an external monitoring application (or a third party probe) over IP. Each MSU is sent using a connection-specific interface that includes generic information such as time stamp, link/user ID, MSU direction, media type (M2PA, ATM, LSL, Annex A,M2UA, SUA, M3UA, and so on), NA, and SS7 Variant. An external monitoring application can provide network analysis and external data representation (XDR) for the DSC - SP2000 Platform. For more information about the IMF application, see the appropriate chapter in the SS7 Application Guide 2.
