The slot monitor is supported for the following systems:

  • DSC 8000

The Slot Monitor is a software application that is accessible through the Web UI. This software application provides the following:

  • displays the Slot Monitor Details

  • displays the Slot Details

  • lists the applications running on each VM

  • provides the status of the application running on each VM
  • raises alarms by card state, IP configuration state, and application state

  • assist with inserting and extracting system cards

The Slot Monitor helps you through the process of inserting or extracting a card, including hot-swapping system cards. Whenever you are inserting or extracting such a card, the Slot Monitor sends a card extract (or insert) request to the appropriate managing software on the respective card and to all the applications that are connected to this card. When the applications have acknowledged the request, the extracted card’s managing software ensures that all processes are stopped or started on the card.

You can set the debug logging for the Slot Monitor (see the following procedure). The following settings are supported:

  • DISABLED - no logs are registered for the system

  • DEFAULT - only operations logs such as state changes are registered for the system

  • VERBOSE - additional logs such as message encoding and decoding are added to the DEFAULT logs

The recommended setting for the Slot Monitor debug logging is DISABLED.

To use the Slot Monitor

  1. From the Main Menu, click Slot Monitor.

  2. To set the debug logging on the Slot Monitor Details screen, click the Debug Logging drop-down menu.
