The CIC UA is a proprietary client/server protocol to support the transport of Integrated Services Digital Network User Part (ISUP) messages over TCP/IP. This protocol was developed by Ribbon for ISUP CIC-range routing.

User Applications or Application Server Processes (ASPs) connect and send registration requests to the server protocol. The SG dynamically creates routing keys or Application Servers. These routing keys are used to route ISUP messages to and from registered ASPs.

The CIC UA TCP Server must be activated before any registration requests can be received.
