SFP/SFP+ modules are hot-pluggable and field-replaceable components. These modules can be inserted into the SFP/SFP+ bays on both the AMC671 MCH and AMC670 (µRTM) faceplates.
You can use any combination of these modules supported by these cards, but with the following restrictions:
- each port must match the electrical or optical wave-length specifications on the other end of the cable
- the cable must not exceed the stipulated cable length for reliable communications specified for the AMC671 MCH or AMC670 (µRTM) SFP/SFP+ modules
Warning
Optical SFP modules are equipped with a Class 1 LED, which emits invisible radiation. Do not look into open optical ports.
Only trained and qualified personnel should be allowed to install or replace this equipment.
Caution
Protect fiber-optic SFP/SFP+ modules by inserting clean dust plugs into the SFP/SFP+ modules after you remove the cables. Be sure to clean the optic surfaces of the fiber-optic cables with a soft antistatic cloth before you connect them to another SFP/SFP+ module. Avoid getting dust and other contaminants into the optical bores, as the optics do not work correctly when obstructed with dust.
