In this section:

The following figure shows the supported connectors on the RMC670 μRTM.

Note

Ports FP3 and FP4 are capable of 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps data rates, depending on the Small Form Pluggable (SFP) module (Optical or Copper) used in the connector bay:

  • SFP Optical module for 1 Gbps
  • SFP+ Optical module for 10 Gbps
  • SFP Copper module for 1 Gbps
  • SFP+ Copper module for 10 Gbps

FP3 and FP4 are configured by the DSC 8000 to operate at high bandwidth data rates. The lower link speeds, 10/100 Mbps, are not supported.

For information on supported SFP modules used in optical ports FP3 and FP4, refer to Optical SFP/SFP+ Modules.

See Console Port Pinouts for detailed information.

1000 Mbps Ethernet Port P4

Note

The 1000 Mbps Ethernet port, P3 (RJ45), located on the RM670 μRTM faceplate, is not used by the DSC Platform.

The pinout specification for port P4 is identical to ports P1 and P2 (both are not used) on the AMC671. Refer to the section 1000 Mbps Ports, P1 and P2.

FP3, FP4 and BP2 (SFP/SFP+) Connector Bays

There is a supported 10 GbE base pipe port, BP2, on the μRTM faceplate, and two (2) 10 GbE fat pipe ports, FP3 and

FP4, on the μRTM faceplate. The ports are connector bays that accept SFP/SFP+ connector modules.

The BP1 connector port is not used on the DSC 8000 system.

All of these ports have identical pinouts. The table below lists and describes the pinouts for these connector bays.

Note

If the 10 GbE switch fat pipe (SFP/SFP+ bays) ports do not have a connector module installed, these connections should have an SFP/SFP+ EMI/dust plug installed. Refer to SFP/SFP+ EMI/Dust Plug.

100 Mbps Ethernet Port (Cross-MCH)

The 10/100Base-T Ethernet Management port (RJ45) for the cross-MCH connection, is located on the RMC670 μRTM faceplate.

The following table lists and describes the pinout for the 10/100Mbps Ethernet management port.

Console Ports

An RS-232 Console Port is located on the RMC670 µRTM faceplate (µDB9). Supported signals include TxD and RxD (no support for modem control signals) with RS-232-level signaling.

The following table lists and describes the μRTM RS-232 console port (μDB9) pinout for a DTE connection.

Three-headed Hydra Cable

A three-headed hydra cable is available to provide three female DB9 console connectors. The cable provides DCE connections (RS-232 levels) to allow connection to a male PC (DTE) without the need of a null modem. A null modem (DB9M to DB9M) can be used to allow connection to a MODEM (DCE) directly. This cable is 1.8 meters (6 ft) in length.

The following table describes the pinout for each of the DB9 connectors.
