In this section:

The following connectors are supported by the AMC671 (see the following figure).

Note

Ports FP1 and FP2 are capable of 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps data rates, depending on the Small Form Pluggable (SFP) module (Optical or Copper) used in the connector bay:

  • SFP Optical module for 1 Gbps
  • SFP+ Optical module for 10 Gbps

For information about supported SFP Modules used in optical ports FP1 and FP2 , refer to SFP/SFP+ Modules.

1000 Mbps Ethernet Ports, P1 and P2

Note

The two (2) 1000Base-T Ethernet ports, P1 and P2 (RJ45 connectors), located on the AMC671 faceplate, are not used by the DSC Platform.

1000 Mbps Ethernet data ports (RJ-45 connectors) are located on both the AMC671 MCH (P1, P2) and the RMC670 µRTM (P3, P4) faceplates. The P1 and P2 external connector interfaces are not supported on the DSC 8000.

The following table defines the pinout for the 1000Base-T Ethernet ports on both cards.

FP1 and FP2 (SFP/SFP+) Connector Bays

There are two (2) 10 GbE fat pipe ports, FP1 and FP2, on the AMC671 MCH faceplate. The ports are connector bays that accept SFP/SFP+ connector modules.

The table below lists and describes the pinouts for these connector bays.

Note

If the 10 GbE switch fat pipe (SFP/SFP+ bays) ports do not have a connector module installed, these connections should have an SFP/SFP+ EMI/dust plug installed. Refer to SFP/SFP+ EMI/Dust Plugs .

Console Ports

The RS-232 Console Port is located on both the AMC671 MCH faceplate (RJ11) and the µRTM faceplate (µDB9). Supported signals include TxD and RxD (no support for modem control signals) with RS-232-level signaling.

The following table lists and describes the AMC671 MCH RS-232 Console Port (RJ11) pinout for a DTE connection.

Console Cable

The PT-ACC101-12383 Console accessory Kit (RJ11 to RJ11 cable, RJ11 to DB9M adapter, DB9F to  DB9F null modem adapter), available from Ribbon, provides connection between the faceplate  console port and a serial terminal or PC running a terminal emulator. The cable and RJ11 to  DP9M adapter provides a Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) connection, allowing connection to a modem - Data Circuit Terminating Equipment (DCE) without the  need of a null modem. The null modem adapter is provided to allow connection to a terminal  or PC (DTE) directly. This cable must be a minimum of 0.91m (3 ft) in length.

The following table describes the pinout of the DB9 connector.

Caution

Be careful to insert the RJ11 connector on the management cable only into the serial port. Inserting the RJ11 connector into the Ethernet connector may damage the Ethernet connector pins.
