Service Handler Overview

This section includes the list of Service Handlers, and the related  Service Handler databases. Service handlers are software components that apply specific routing requirements to selected signaling messages. Service handlers can be replicated on demand to create different instances of the service handler that can be configured independently. Different service handlers are available to handle diverse signaling scenarios within the same system. Service handlers provide a set of services to configure based on your requirements. You can control the services applied within a service handler and generate responses for the events configured for the services. Each service handler is associated with a database with data specific to the instance of that particular service handler. The database can be configured based on the network or signaling requirements.

A service handler provides the following functions:

• Protocol validation - the syntax of the received message is verified prior to using information from the message for the various services.
• Service control - determines if the services are applicable for the message.
• Service event handling - interprets the results of an applied service.

To view the Service Handler Tab

1. Select CONFIGURATION > SS7 DB Application from the launcher tree.
   
   
2. Click Service Handlers tab.
