Note

The following section is only applicable to the DSC Platform.

The M3UA Server Links provide a mechanism for implementing M3UA Server Gateway Process (SGP) functionality within the DSC Platform. The Server Links are similar to Generic SG Links. The M3UA Server links operate as an SGP and the SG links operate as an ASP. For additional information about SG Links, refer to M3UA SG Link Configuration.

Note

Generic SG links provide M3UA Application Servers Process (ASP) functionality.

The M3UA Server Links are Generic Links that use M3UA RFC messages, but only support a subset of the M3UA RFC 4666 procedures for SGPs. Notify messages, override traffic mode, and broadcast traffic modes are not supported. The message exchange model used by M3UA Server Links is based on a single exchange model.

Note

For more information about M3UA Links, refer to Signaling System 7 (SS7) Message Transfer Part 3 (MTP3) - User Adaptation (M3UA) layer, RFC 4666, © The Internet Society (2006).

In the Web UI, each link has the option of setting the Routing Context (RC) and Network Appearance (NA) parameters. These parameters are optional and are provided in the event that the M3UA ASP should require their presence in received M3UA Data messages. By default, the RC and NA attributes are set to UNSET.

Note

These attributes are validated against minimum and maximum values. For more information about these values, refer to the TL1, MTP3 Commands.

To configure the M3UA server to send and receive M3UA data, refer to Configuring the M3UA Server Link Status.

The following procedures describe how to create, configure, activate, deactivate, and delete M3UA Server links.

Note

Only 16 M3UA Server links can be provisioned within a linkset.

Note

Clicking the Shutdown action results in a graceful shutdown for the SCTP connections.

Users may choose to abort the connection or shut down the connection.

If shutdown failure occurs, the shutdown chunk is resent based on RTO Maximum and Maximum Assoc Retrans. When it exceeds Maximum Assoc Retrans, then the ABORT chunk is sent.
