In this section:

Rate Limiters are used to apply restrictions to the flow of specific message types. Each Rate Limiter is associated with a Capacity Parameter Set, which defines its message rate, congestion parameters, and handling.

The Advanced Flow Control Configuration associated with the Capacity Parameter Set controls the output rate of the Rate Limiter. If the Message Per Second Capacity is set to UNLIMITED, the Rate Limiter does not have any effect, see Configuring Capacity Parameter Sets.

Multiple Rate Limiters can be applied to a single message using the modification command use-rate-limiter <NAME> in the Modification Tables (see Configuring Modification Tables and Records) and can affect a message depending on its position within the message path.

For more information about Rate Limiters and their effects on messages, see Congestion and Flow Control, Restricting Flow Control.
