Purpose

This page will guide you trough the creation of an Office365 tenant. The tenant will host some user that will get public access to the tenant resource.

Instruction

Create a Domain Name

The first step is to order a public Domain Name that will be associated with your tenant. You have to host this Domain Name on publicly accessible DNS. In this case ewe will use "Azure DNS Service".

  1. Log into your Azure account. If you don't have it, ask your manager for an account used by your service.
  2. Browse to get the access to all the Azure product and select DNS zones
  3. At the top of the page hit Add
  4. Enter the Name of the domain you need to create and a Resource group name.
  5. Your new DNS zone should show up on your dashboard.
  6. Click on the newly created icon to open your new zone settings



  7. You can now purchase a Domain NAme and redirect it to the name server listed on your zone settings

Create an Office 365 Tenant

To create a tenant account, you may follow the steps below:
1.Open the https://products.office.com/en-us/business/compare-more-office-365-for-business-plans to select a plan and click Buy now.
2.Follow the wizard to create a new account.


3.After creating a new account, you can log into the portal.office.com using it.

Add your domain into Office 365 tenant

  2. Click Domains, Click on Add domain
  3. Enter your newly created Domain Name
  4. Take a note of your Record information
  5. Log into your Azure account and open your zone settings
  6. Add a Record Set
  7. Create the new record with the information provided by Office365 portal
  8. Go back to the Office 365 and hit verify
  9. Select I'll manage my own DNS records and hit Next to Set up your online services

    Create all the DNS record required
  10. Once completed should looks like this


  11. Hit Verify again to ensure all the record are correct.
  12. You can now create new user using your Domain Name

Cost

  1. Domain Name: $30/Year (usually free the 1st year)
  2. Azure Dns Server: $0.25 per month
  3. Public Certificate (Only if you need Cloud Connector Edition): $50 /Year
  4. Microsoft license:
    1. CAL E5: $35 user/month
    2. CAL E3 + Cloud PBX option: $28 user/month

The cheapest option is $7/month +  $28 user/month:

  • 2 users: $70 /month
  • 3 users: $105 /month
  • 4 users: $140 /month
  • 5 users: $175 /month
