Ribbon offers a product defect return policy, Return of Material (RMA), as part of the purchase of an Edge 8000 Series product.

Use the following procedure to obtain, install, and configure a replacement Edge 8000 unit.

Prerequisites

  • You have contacted Ribbon Technical Support for assistance, and Ribbon has advised you to request an RMA replacement unit.
  • You have on hand:
    • a recent backup of the Edge 8000 unit
    • System Administrator (sysadm) login access to the Edge 8000 CLI
    • Administrator (admin) login access to the Edge 8000 WebUI
    • Administrator (admin) login access to the SBC SWe Edge WebUI

Start

  1. Open a Ribbon Salesforce ticket to request a replacement unit.
  2. Receive the RMA replacement unit.
  3. Mount and cable the replacement unit. Power it on. Refer to Installing Edge 8000 Hardware.
  4. Download from Salesforce the software image file of the Edge 8000 software desired for your device.
  5. Install the Image File.
  6. Restore the previous site-specific settings from your Ribbon backup. Refer to Restore the Configuration Settings from Backup.
  7. Obtain and install the licenses for Router and SBC SWe Edge. Refer to License Management.
