The AMC670 µRTM reaches over the backplane to interface to the rear I/O connector on the associated AMC or MCH (see the following figure). The AMC, MCH, and µRTM are all double-wide form factor cards."

Caution

The mechanical tolerance stack up requires that the AMC, MCH, and µRTM initially be installed in a specific sequence. This sequence requires that the AMC or MCH be fully seated first and its retention screws tightened. Then the µRTM can be fully seated and its retention screws tightened. For information, refer to Properly Seating AMCs, MCHs, and µRTMs and  Installing an AMC124 (CPU) and its RMC110 (µRTM) and an AMC671 (MCH) and its RMC670 (µRTM).

AMC to MicroTCA Connection

The AMC and µRTM use either a two-row or three-row HM-Zd connector. Mid-size modules are limited to the two-row version and full-size modules can use either HM-Zd connector version.

The HM-Zd connector pins are configured as pairs with ground shields. Eight pins (four pairs) are defined for standard use. The remaining pairs are available for card-specific use. The following standardized pins are available:

  • 12V (four pins / two pairs) -- gated on the front card under MMC control
  • 3.3V management power -- provided by the system under management control
  • µRTM present# -- grounded on µRTM, pulled up on front card
  • I2C clock
  • I2C data

The ground shields provide adequate ground/return.
