 DSC 8000 should not be impacted by the software upgrade process. During this process, the system cards are stopped, are upgraded to the new software, and are restarted in such an order that the traffic is not interrupted on the system. This guide provides information about the pre-upgrade check (refer to Execute the Pre-upgrade Checks) that should help you to examine such system configurations such as available capacity during the upgrade process, and the extent to which connections are made to multiple Ethernet Switches, CPUs and I/O cards described in this section.

All the examples in this document assume a Linux/Unix environment. Alternatively, utilities such as psftp.exe and putty.exe can be used in a Windows environment to SSH.  


It is assumed that your network is configured with redundancy such as two

 DSC 8000 systems in a mated pair configuration to accommodate a switchover of traffic from one system to the other, while the software upgrade takes place.

It is recommended that you upgrade the software when the traffic levels are low to avoid the risk of triggering network congestion on the active system.

If you have to reset the system date and time, it is recommended that you perform this task during the maintenance window. For more information, refer to the DSC - SP2000 Platform Manager User Guide.

You must upgrade all system cards, including new and spare cards, to the software release 18.1.0 OS and

 software before commissioning these cards. For more information, refer to Upgrading the Software on Spare System Cards. 

Make sure to familiarize yourself with the content of this section and Status Verification Before Upgrading the Software before starting a software upgrade. Execute the software upgrade process in the same order that this process is presented in this document.

You must use the Menu-based user interface (Menu UI) to perform this procedure. For information about this UI, refer to the appropriate section in the Web UI and Menu UI Guide .
