The Sonus SBC 1000/2000 provides functionality for troubleshooting common network issues:

  • Ping. PIngs an FQDN or IP address and provides results.
  • Traceroute to Destination. Provides traceroute to a destination for an an FQDN or IP address.

Ping a Device

Ping a device:

  1. In the WebUI, click the Diagnostics tab.

  2. In the left navigation pane, go to Tools > Ping Destination.

  3. Configure the options. See Ping Options - Field Definitions.

  4. Click OK.

IP Address Type

Specifies whether the IP address in which to Ping is IPv4 or IPv6. .

Destination

The IP address or Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the destination machine.

Interface

Specifies the physical interface on the Sonus SBC 1000/2000 over which the ping traffic is sent. This field is populated with the available IPv4 or IPv6 interfaces. The Auto option enables the SBC to determine the interface in which to sent ping traffic.

Timeout

Specifies the maximum time, in seconds, that the Sonus SBC 1000/2000 waits for a response to a ping.

Count

Specifies the number of times to a ping.

Interval

Specifies the interval, in seconds, between pings.

Packet Size

Specifies the payload size of the packet sent. Total packet size is the specified value plus 8 bytes.

Cancel a Ping Function

At any time, the Cancel Ping option ends a ping session already in progress. Cancel a ping as follows:

  1. Click the Cancel Ping option at the top of the Ping Destination screen.

  2. At the confirmation screen, click OK.

The Ping function is cancelled and ping results do not continued to be displayed.

Traceroute to Destination

Trace the hops to a destination:

  1. In the WebUI, click the Diagnostics tab.

  2. In the left navigation pane, go to Tools > Traceroute to Destination.

  3. Configure the options. See Traceroute to Destination Options - Field Definitions.

  4. Click OK.

IP Address Type

Specifies whether the IP address in which to perform the Traceroute option is IPv4 or IPv6.

Destination

Specifies the IP address or Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the machine to which a route is traced.

Timeout

Specifies the maximum time, in seconds, that the Sonus SBC 1000/2000 waits for a response for each hop.

Maximum Hops

Specifies the maximum number of hops before terminating.

Cancel a Traceroute to Destination Function

At any time, the Cancel Traceroute option ends a Traceroute to Destination session already in progress. Cancel as follows:

  1. Click the Cancel Ping option at the top of the Ping Destination screen.
