Prerequisites

The following must be executed prior to installing SBC SWe Lite on Microsoft Hyper-V:


  1. Refer to Downloading the SBC SWe Lite Package prior to performing this procedure.
  2. Verify Power Options in Microsoft Windows is set to High Performance.
    1. From Microsoft WIndows, click Start.
    2. Right-click Control Panel.
    3. Select Hardware.
    4. Select Power Options.
    5. Select High performance.
  3. Disable the VLAN and VM Queues to improve network performance.

    Note

     Perform the following steps for each network adapter being used.

     

    1. From Device Manager, expand Network Adapters.
    2. Right-click on a network adapter and select Properties.
    3. Select the Advanced tab.
    4. In the Property field, select Virtual Machine Queues.
    5. In the Value field, select Disable.
    6. In the Property field, select VMQ VLAN Filtering.
    7. In the Value field, select Disable.
    8. Click OK.

  1. Launch Hyper-V Manager from the Windows Start menu.
  2. Click Import Virtual Machine link in the Actions pane, and then click Next.

  3. Click Browse from the Locate Folder dialog box and then navigate to the VM Packages folder.

  4. Select the desired folder, and then click Select Folder.

  5. Click Next in the Locate Folder dialog box to display the selected folder.
  6. Select the VM to import from the Select Virtual Machine dialog box, and then click Next.

  7. Select Copy the virtual machine (create a new unique ID) option, and then click Next.

  8. The default settings are displayed in the Choose Destination dialog box. Leave all locations in the default state, and click Next.

  9. Click Browse from the Choose Storage Folders dialog box and navigate to the folder that will contain the virtual hard disks.

    Note

    If it is necessary to create a new folder name that contains the virtual hard disk in c:\Hyper-V\Virtual Hard Disks\, enter it in the Location field instead of clicking Browse.

  10.  From the Choose Storage Folders dialog box, locate the folder and then click Select Folder.

  11. Click Next, and then click Finish.

  12. After the image is copied, rename the VM with the intended

    host name.

  13. Right-click on the renamed VM and then select Settings.

  14. Click the + sign to the left of the first Network Adapter and then click Advanced Features.
  15. Select Static under MAC address in the Advanced Features pane.
  16. Configure the MAC address based on your local procedures.
  17. Repeat steps 14-16 for the remaining four adapters.

     Configure all five adapters even if they all will not be used.

  18. Click OK to save and exit the Settings window.

  19. Right click on the VM name and then select Start.

  20. Double-click on the VM name to monitor the startup progress and identify the initial Admin IP address.

  21. Launch a browser.

  22. Enter the default IP address and press Enter to launch the

    which automatically opens Initial Sonus SBC System Setup.

  23. Configure the System Information, IP address, Local Users and Connectivity Information panes as shown below, using the appropriate values for your location.

  24. Change the default Admin IP to a Static IP address, and click Apply to save the Initial Sonus SBC Setup.

  25. From a Web browser, enter the static Admin IP address identified from the previous step to open the

  26. Configure the node as needed – refer to Running Initial Setup.

IMPORTANT!

To prevent time drift, you must manually set an NTP time source during the initial configuration. Instructions are located at Configuring an NTP Time Source.
