Install the VMware vSphere Client

 If there is a need to access the ESXi server remotely, download and install vSphere Client to the desktop.

1. From the VMware ESXi Welcome page, click Download vSphere Client for Windows.

2. After installing, login to the vSphere Client using the appropriate login credentials.

3. Identify and reserve two static IP addresses for the Management and Media ports prior to creating the virtual

   One IP address each is required for the management Management port, and media one for the Media port. In the examples below, the management port Management Port is on the 10.56.230.x subnet and the media port Media Port is on the 10.56.227.x subnet.

Install SBC SWe Lite on the ESXi Server

1. Enter the ESXi server IP address into a browser address bar to login. Caption

2. After landing on After logging on to the ESXi server, select Deploy OVF Template from the File drop-down menu.

3. Select the location of the OVF package, and then click Next.

4. The When the OVF Template Details screen displays. Make pane opens, make note of the information listed and then click Next.

5. The When the Name and Location screen displays. Rename pane opens, rename the

    instance to make it unique in the inventory folder, and then click Next.

6. Select the Resource Pool to deploy the template, and then click Next.

7. Ensure that the Thick Provision Lazy Zeroed option is selected on in the Disk Format screen dialog box, and then click Next.

8. On Review the Network Mapping screen, if required, dialog box. If necessary, select a different media port network interface from the Destination Networks drop-down menulist, and then click Next.

9. Make note of the deployment settings, and then click Finish to create the

   Sonus recommends that all customers review and, if necessary, optimize their Network Interface configurations before proceeding. Failure to do so could lead to interface mapping issues. See Mapping Network Interfaces and then return to this section.

Edit the Virtual Machine Settings

1. Select the newly-created 

   Spacevars

   from the list in the left window pane as shown below.

2. Select the Edit virtual machine settings link on the Getting Started tab.

From the Memory Configuration panel, modify the memory size if required by clicking the arrows in the Memory Size field and click OK.

Configuring Virtual Network Adapters

1. Select Network adapter 1 from the Hardware tab of Virtual Machine Properties.

2. In MAC Address section of the right window pane, select Manual. Default is Automatic.

   You must assign the MAC address manually. Do not accept the automatic default. The MAC address field is populated with the first three octets.

3. Finish configuring the static MAC address based upon local requirementsprovided by your Network IT Administrator.

4. Repeat steps 5 through 7 for the remaining four Network adapters (2 -5).

5. Configure at least two network interfaces for the appropriate network.

6. Click OK to save and then exit the Settings window. Caption

7. Power on the

    by selecting Power on the virtual machine link on the Getting Started tab.

8. Click the Console tab, and wait for the login prompt (press enter a few times if nothing appears).

   To Access the SBC SWe Lite virtual machine, you need to further configure the network interfaces from the virtual machine console.

9. Login as user netconfig and password Config!, this automatically launches the interface mapping shell script.

10. User is prompted to change the netconfig password. The password requirement is six characters with a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and other characters.

11. Enter the admin interface name and Ethernet 1 media interface name as indicated below.

    The interface mapping shell script prompts the user to provide the Interface name to map to the Ethernet Interface that will show in the WebUI.  In order to correctly map the Interface, the MAC address gathered from the virtual machine editing session performed earlier in this procedure is required. Entering the interface name and MAC address mapping activates the interface, otherwise by just pressing Enter, the interface will not be specified and it will not show on the WebUI.

12. Verify the admin port is connected to a network that has DHCP enabled.

    If the network mapping and the connection are correct, the admin IP address should show on the console port as shown below. If the Admin IP address is not present, check your connections and mappings.

13. If access to the root of the console is required before the WebUI initial setup, the login is root and the default password is chorus.

Complete Initial Setup

Verify/change information on the Initial Sonus SBC Setup window as required, and click OK.

Deleting a VM Instance

If needed, perform the following steps to delete a VM instance from the server.

Step	Action
1	Enter the ESXi server IP address into a browser address bar to login.
2	Exit the instance.
3	Select the instance and click Delete from Disk.  Figure : Delete from Disk Image Added
3	Click Delete from Disk.  Note: Do not select Remove from Inventory. Doing so could impact other VM instances on the server.

Proceed to SBC SWe Lite Initial Setup. After setup is complete, proceed to License Installation.
