WAN failover relies on two separate physical routes to the WAN network, Primary and Secondary. If a communication failure is detected on the Primary route, the EdgeMarc switches to the secondary route, reducing the risk of the WAN link being the single point of failure.

For more information about Survivability, choose VoIP > Survivability and refer to Configuring Survivability.

Automatic WLR Switchover

Revertive behavior instructs the data or voice interface to revert based on configured priority values. If Revertive mode has been turned on for WLR, the module invokes a switchover as soon as the default data interface (Primary) or configured voice interface (Primary/Secondary) is marked operationally up. This takes into account both IOCTL-based as well ping-based polling mechanisms in addition to the usual active Link failure-related switchover.

Supported WLR Interfaces

WAN Link Redundancy can be implemented using two different physical interfaces on the same EdgeMarc (for example, T1 interface and Ethernet) or one physical interface with two gateways to the WAN via an intermediate LAN. Any interface or gateway can either be primary or secondary. Refer to Configuring Dual WAN Ports.
