Modified: for 9.0.2

Overview

The SBC SWe Lite can be deployed running as a VNF on a uCPE platform running an Intel Atom processor with 2.5 GHz or more.  All of the features and functionalities of the SBC SWe Lite are supported in this deployment type for 1, 2, or 4 vCPUs. The SBC SWe Lite can be deployed on Service Providers uCPEs, such as Versa.

Hardware and Software Requirements

The following are the server and SBC SWe Lite requirements for running the SBC SWe Lite on a uCPE platform.

Server Hardware Requirements

Hardware and Software Requirements

ConfigurationRequirement
ProcessorIntel Atom
CPU2.5 GHz or more
RAMEach SBC SWe Lite instance requires 1, 2, or 4 GiB of RAM depending on the configuration
DatastoreHard disk requirements are dependent upon the number of VNFs hosted, the size of each VNF at full size, and whether snapshots will be enabled

General Recommendations

  • Plan enough resources (RAM, CPU, NIC ports, hard disk, etc.) for all the VNFs to run on the server platform, including resources needed by the uCPE itself.
  • Allocate each VNF with only as much virtual hardware as that VNF requires. Provisioning a VNF with more resources than it requires can, in some cases, reduce the performance of that VNF as well as other virtual machines sharing the same host.
  • Disconnect or disable any physical hardware devices that you will not be using (floppy drives, network interfaces, storage controllers, optical drives, USB controllers, etc.) under BIOS settings to free up interrupt/CPU resources.
