RAMP is a centralized management solution foRibbon products in your network. It is required for NWDL, for reporting the performance of the SWe Edge and for monitoring the license status and usage. You can manage SBC SWe Edge in HA deployments with RAMP version 22.12 or later. The following workflow defines the procedures for managing your SBC SWe Edge HA pair through RAMP.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have upgraded your RAMP to version 22.12 or later. For more information on upgrading your RAMP, contact your Ribbon sales representative.


Workflow


Connecting an SBC SWe Edge HA Pair to RAMP

Connecting an SBC SWe Edge HA pair to RAMP allows you to register the HA pair with RAMP and associate NWDL licenses with your SBC SWe Edge HA Pair.

Start
  1. Log in to the Active instance.
  2. Click the Settings tab at the top of the WebUI.
  3. In the left navigation pane, go to System > Node-Level Settings. The Node-Level Settings window opens on the right.
  4. In the Ribbon Application Management Platform (RAMP) section, select Yes for Connect to RAMP.

  5. Complete the following fields:
    • Management Address
    • Management ID
     HA Pair Name

    Caution

    The HA pair name must be unique within a management domain and must remain the same. You cannot modify the HA pair name once you successfully pair the Active and Standby SWe Edge instances.

    RAMP Parameter

    Enter the name of the Active and Standby instance to be paired. 

    The HA pair name allows RAMP to identify the Active and Standby SWe Edge HA instances as a single network entity

  6. Click Apply. The following message opens. 


  7. Click OK. The following message opens.

    Note

    It takes about 2 minutes for RAMP to detect the SBC SWe Edge HA pair. 

    Once the configuration is successful, the RAMP section displays as follows:

    RAMP Connection displays as Up if the SWe Edge instance is connected to the RAMP server successfully. This examples shows the NWDL licensing model.


  8. Repeat steps 1 to 7 in the Standby instance.

    Note

    You must use the same HA pair name as the one you used for configuring the Active instance.

Registering an SBC SWe Edge HA pair with RAMP allows you to manage the SBC SWe Edge HA pair through RAMP, such as monitor the health and performance of the HA pair. You do not need to manually register the SBC SWe Edge with RAMP. The SBC SWe Edge automatically registers with RAMP after you completed Connecting an SBC SWe Edge HA Pair to RAMP.
