The Ribbon Application Management Platform can launch an SBC Edge Portfolio instance's UI in your internet browser, which allows you to configure, operate, and monitor the instance if the remote UI connection is currently active. For example, you can configure the rbbnramp logging and view the current connection and remote UI status of the RAMP connection.

With the Ribbon Application Management Platform enabled, the SBC Edge Portfolio sends a SIP signaling group (SG) and port status report and the most recent, highest severity alarm to the Ribbon Application Management Platform. The SIP SG and port status report includes information about the SIP SG and port's unique ID, administrative status, and real-time status.

Note

If a timeout results in the runtime status not being retrieved, then the SBC Edge Portfolio reports the real-time status as Unknown.

Requirements

To enable the Ribbon Application Management Platform, you must configure the Ribbon Application Management Platform panel (see the following procedure) according to your SBC Edge Portfolio:

  • SBC 1000/2000 - Configure the Management IP address or FQDN.
  • SBC SWe Edge - Configure the Management IP address or FQDN and the Management ID.

Caution

When you enter the Management ID, you must insert a colon every two characters (00:00:00). Otherwise, the SBC SWe Edge cannot connect to the Ribbon Application Management Platform.

Configure the SBC Edge Portfolio for Ribbon Application Management Platform at Node-level

The Management ID is not applicable for SBC 1000/2000. 


Use the following procedure to configure the SBC Edge Portfolio for Ribbon Application Management Platform at the node-level.

  1. Access a compatible web browser.
  2. In the browser, enter the IP address of the SBC Edge Portfolio in the URL address bar. The Welcome to Ribbon screen is displayed.
  3. Review the Pre-Login message.
  4. Enter the administrator User Name and Password configured during initial setup.
  5. If the Acknowledge Pre-Login Message checkbox is displayed, click on it to acknowledge you have reviewed the pre-login information above. After initial login, you can enable and disable this checkbox via the Global Security Options. By default, this checkbox is configured as disabled.
  6. Click Login. The main screen provides all WebUI functions, including tabbed options, menu tree, device name, and the last login date and time of the system.

  7. Select Settings > System > Node-Level Settings.

     

    Caution

    When you enter the Management ID, you must insert a colon every two characters (00:00:00). Otherwise, the SBC SWe Edge cannot connect to the Ribbon Application Management Platform.

  8. Use the following table to configure the Ribbon Application Management Platform (RAMP) panel.

    Note: This field applies only when the RAMP field is set to Yes.

    Management ID

    Caution: When you enter the Ribbon Application Management Platform Management ID, you must insert a colon every two characters (00:00:00). Otherwise, the SBC SWe Edge cannot connect to the Ribbon Application Management Platform.

    Configure this field with the Management ID for the Ribbon Application Management Platform.

    Note: This field applies only to the SBC SWe Edge. The SBC 1000/2000 automatically sends the MAC address to the Ribbon Application Management Platform.

    Note: This field applies only when the Connect to RAMP field is set to Yes.

    RAMP Connection

    The status of the SBC’s connection to the Ribbon Application Management Platform. This status may be one of the following:

    • Down
    • Up

    Note: This field applies only when the Connect to RAMP field is set to Yes.

    RAMP Tunnel Status

    The status of the HTTPS tunnel from the RAMP to the SBC. This status may be one of the following:

    • Not Connected
    • Up

    Note: This field applies only when the RAMP field is set to Yes.

    RAMP Online Licensing

    The status of the RAMP Licensing on the SBC. This status may be one of the following:

    • None 
    • NWDL
    • SBCaaS (Ribbon Connect)

    Note: This field applies only to the SBC SWe Edge.

    Note: This field applies only when the RAMP field is set to Yes.

    HA Pair Name

    Enter the name of the Active and Standby instance to be paired. 

    The HA pair name allows RAMP to identify the Active and Standby SWe Edge HA instances as a single network entity

  9. Click Apply.
