Navigating in the Main Menu or submenus is the same for both root and non-root users. To select a particular menu, type the number that corresponds to the menu you want to view, and then press ENTER. For example, if you’re using the Main Menu, select MTP3 by typing 1, and then press ENTER.
The System Manager submenus follow the same design standards. Any differences between how these user interfaces work are noted in this guide.
The following figure shows an example of the Menu UI screen (Card Configuration) and shows the basic functional areas. Depending on the action you take and the specific attribute you view or set, one or more of these fields may be unavailable.
The following table lists the basic functional areas for the Menu UI screen and describes these areas.

1. Header Information | Contains the name of the screen you are viewing. |
2. Attributes and Values | Provides the current settings for the screen. |
3. Hostname | Provides the hostname, IP address of your DSC - SP2000 Platforms, and page number of the screen. If the hostname is one in a series of screens, then the page number appears in the right corner and the hostname and IP address you are configuring appears just below the page number. If there is only one screen, then the hostname and IP address replaces the page number. |
4. Status | Provides any instructions associated with a particular action. |
5. Instructions | Provides you with online help. |
6. User Input | Allocated for your input to manipulate the interface. |
7. Menu Navigation Commands | Provides you with the keystrokes you have to use to manipulate the screen (see the following table) |
8. Actions Available | Displays various actions you can perform. |
9. Page Number | Displays the page you are currently viewing if there are several pages available for the configuration. |
