A replaceable air filter (Ribbon Part Number PT-MTC5155-12549) is attached to the front air intake fan tray of the DSC Platform chassis.

Caution

It is recommended that you check the air filter at least every 90 days to determine if it needs cleaning or replacing. It is also recommended that you replace the air filter after it has been cleaned two or three times. Carefully check the air filter for deterioration before using it again. More frequent air filter inspections may be required if the site experiences high levels of dust or particulate matter in the air. DSC Platformsthat are installed in a clean room that has additional air filtration may require less frequent inspection.

Do not operate a DSC Platform chassis without an air filter in place. It is recommended that you keep one or more spare filters on hand at all times for use as replacements, or as temporary filters when an air filter is removed and cleaned. To order additional air filters, contact Sales.

  1. Remove the fan tray. Refer to Replace a Fan Tray.
  2. Remove the filter grill from the fan tray by turning the filter retention screws counter clockwise until they disengage from the fan tray.
  3. Remove the air filter from the air intake grill (Figure Fan Tray Components).
    1. Unclip the inner retention bracket by gently pushing down onto the retention bracket until the retention bracket tabs disengage from the air intake slots.
    2. Pull the air filter away from the grill frame.
  4. Fit a replacement filter into the back of the grill.
  5. Gently snap the filter retention bracket into place.
  6. Reinstall the air intake grill back on the front of the fan tray turning the retention screws clockwise until they are seated. Do not over-tighten the retention screws.
  7. Replace the fan tray. Refer to Replace a Fan Tray.
Caution

Check the filter carefully before installing it into the system. If any sign of filter deterioration is detected, do not reuse the filter.

Air filters made from a foam media can be cleaned in one of the following ways:

  • Vacuum the air filter from the side where air enters the filter. This action pulls dirt through the filter in the reverse of the airflow direction markings on the filter frame.
  • Wash the filter with a mild detergent using a low pressure spray and warm or cool water. Allow the filter to dry completely before replacing it in the fan tray.
