Note

The following section is only applicable to the DSC Platform.

The M3UA Server Link utilizes SCTP as its transport mechanism. On the Web UI, the SCTP Client attribute determines if the link associations operate as SCTP Clients (enabled) or SCTP Servers (disabled). To be In-Service at Level 2, establish the underlying SCTP to the M3UA Server Link.

To be In-Service at Level 3 (M3UA level) requires the exchange of ASP UP and ASP Active M3UA messages, as well as their corresponding acknowledgments. Only after the link becomes In-Service at L3 will traffic be forwarded on the link to the ASP.

Note

The M3UA Client attribute is set to DISABLED by default when an M3UA Server Link is created.

For M3UA Server Links, the Level 2 link state indicates whether the link SCTP association has failed (Out-of-Service) or been established (In-Service). The Level 3 link state indicates if the M3UA server is ready to send and receive M3UA data. The M3UA Server Links will only send data to the ASP when the link for M3UA is In-Service.

For information about Server Links, refer to M3UA Server Link Configuration.
