In this section:

The Member Diameter ID comprises the Diameter ID, the Weight, and the Cost of the Server for load balancing.

The Diameter ID is the identification for a given Diameter Node within the Server Pool. This ID must be a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) and must use the same validation that is applied to ADN Diameter IDs (refer to Configuring Adjacent Diameter Nodes).

The Weight and Cost attributes are used to set a value for a given Server relative to other Servers for the purpose of load balancing. Server Pool load balanced based routing applies under the following circumstances:

  • explicit routing is not used and the server pool is accessed as part of the DSC routing tables
  • a Destination-Host AVP is not present. In this case the Server Pool is accessed as part of default routing
