It is recommended that you review and understand content of this section before installing the DSC Platform. Although the descriptive information and the procedures are organized in the same order as the chassis should be installed, reading and understanding all tasks involved in the installation may help you to avoid accidents and ensure that the chassis operates as expected after installation.
Before starting the chassis installation, make sure that you have considered the following:
- required time (approximately two hours) to install the system
- required personnel to mount the chassis in a rack (three people are recommended)
- appropriate tools and cables
- take necessary ESD precautions
- appropriate power sources (refer to Providing Power to the DSC 8000)
- make sure that empty slots in the front and rear of the chassis are covered with air management blades to maintain the required cooling, refer to Table Supported Air Management Blades (AMB's) for information about the required accessories to install the DSC Platform.
