The Alarm Dashboard (always visible at the top of the Web UI) provides an indication of the system status by showing the number of critical, major, and minor alarms and warnings as these alarms occur on the given system. A list of manually cleared alarms and a list of all alarms occurring on the system can also be displayed.

Using the Web UI, the operator can perform the following tasks:

  • view the number of active alarms
  • view a list of all alarms
  • view alarm details
  • view the list of historical alarms
  • acknowledge the alarms
  • manually clear the alarms
  • restore alarms

View the alarms by severity by clicking the required severity alarm count hyperlink on the Alarm Dashboard. Click the Total alarm count hyperlink to list all active and cleared alarms. Refer to Alarm Definitions for a list and description for all alarms.

The listed alarms can also be selected to display the latest (up to 2048) instances of the alarms. The default value is 1000. To set this value as required, refer to Configuring the Trap Log.

Note

The Alarm Dashboard only displays active alarms. Alarms that are raised and quickly cleared by the system may be overlooked by the operator. The ptisyslog file should be periodically reviewed for a historical list of all alarms and events that have been raised by the system.
