Caution
You must only change the system date and time during the initial configuration process, or during a maintenance window. Changing the system date and time on a live system may cause a short disruption in service.
Caution
The use of Etc/GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) time zones is discouraged unless you are aware of their unique timezone representations.
Changing the system date and time sets these parameters on the following:
- all subsequent system and debug log entries
- all system cards
If you have Network Time Protocol (NTP) servers configured, their settings override any manual changes to the system date and time. For more information about NTP, see Using Network Time Protocol
If you are setting up and maintaining DSC - SP2000 Platform in different time zones, then it is recommended that you set up the systems and the workstation using Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) time. For more information about changing time zones, see To change time zone.
If your system is set to Eastern Standard Time (EST), then the change to and from Daylight Saving Time (DST) is automatic. Therefore, at 2:00 A.M. on March 8, 2015, your clock is automatically set forward one hour and at 2:00 A.M. on November 1, 2015 the clock is set back one hour. Note
You have to be logged onto the system as the ROOT user to change the system date and time.
