In this section:

The DSC - SP2000 Platform is delivered with the SCCP software installed. It is recommended that you create and configure the required SCCP Network Appearances (NAs) for the system.

Configuring the SCCP NA Manager

The DSC - SP2000 Platform supports up to 32 NAs. Each SCCP NA must have a corresponding MTP3 NA. If there is no corresponding MTP3 NA, the SCCP NA cannot not receive or send SS7 traffic.

For more information about the NA numbering system, refer to the appropriate section in the SS7 Application Guide 1.

Note

Unless otherwise specified, the term NA in this section refers to an SCCP NA.

Before you can delete an SCCP NA, you must deactivate the SCCP traffic on this NA (see Activating and Deactivating SCCP Traffic).

The system is delivered with one NA preconfigured, unless you purchased PCE where two or three NAs are preconfigured.

Configuring an SCCP NA

The SCCP NA is a creatable object that is used to manage a specific NA. This NA is used for system-wide configuration setup such as logging, and routing features.

General Configuration

The SS7 Variant and the Network Indicator (NI) are configured at MTP3 and appear as read-only on the General Configuration screen.

Debug Configuration

For more information about logging, refer to the appropriate sections in the DSC - SP2000 Platform Manager User Guide.

Caution

Debug logging is useful for troubleshooting purposes, but excessive logging can cause communication delays and is not recommended for normal operations.

Routing Override Configuration

The Routing Override attributes are preconfigured for either a system that is used for customized, nonstandard routing, or for a system that is licensed for a specific Ribbon application. It is recommended that you do not change the default attribute values in these cases.

Backward Compatibility Configuration

The Backward Compatibility attributes are used to support legacy networks, where an application expecting a certain behavior than that has been modified in a later release. Do not modify these attributes for new installations unless instructed by Customer Support.

Activating and Deactivating SCCP Traffic

Typically, SCCP traffic is always active. You may have to deactivate the traffic if an MTP3 NA needs to be cleared. This scenario may occur if you are modifying a setting at MTP3 such as the SS7 Variant on a corresponding NA.

Note

Before you deactivate the SCCP traffic, make sure that there are no User Connections, GTT Connections, or Concerned PCs in the SCCP NA.
