For detailed information about the appropriate description of the various supported CPUs and VMs, refer to Terminology.

Using Wireshark, a tool for analyzing network protocols and connections, the DSC Platform allows the examination of SIGTRAN traffic data. The IMF processes on each Routing CPU can send a copy of the traffic data (MSUs) along with header information to a file on the Routing and Management VMs for analysis (/var/log/packet_capture.pcap). You can then download this file for analysis to a workstation that is running Wireshark.

Note

The file can be obtained using the File Retrieval function in the Web UI. For information about File Retrieval, refer to the appropriate section in the DSC - SP2000 Platform Manager User Guide.

You can either start and stop or set the duration of the packet capture (in seconds).

To configure the IMF packet capture

  1. From the Main Menu, click IMF.

  2. Click IMF Packet Capture
