This section provides the preparation procedures for replacing an AMC121 CPU. In summary, a license needs to be obtained for the new AMC121 CPU, the failed AMC121 CPU must be extracted, and the new CPU must be installed.

Following information are required for generating new license keys:

  • SP2000 software version
  • licensed features on the system
  • MAC address of the working AMC121 CPU
  • MAC address of the new AMC121 CPU
Start
  1. Initiate an SSH session on the working AMC121 CPU.
  2. On the working AMC121 CPU, take a manual complete configuration backup to the default directory (for example, /var/log/backups) using the Web user interface (UI) or the text-based interface (Menu UI) if required, as described in DSC - SP2000 Platform Manager User Guide.
  3. Create a text file or an E-mail and enter the information obtained in the following steps as required.
  4. Execute the following on the working AMC121 CPU to verify the O/S software load version.

    cat /etc/pt-release
  5. Make a note of the value returned by this command on the working AMC121 CPU and enter it into the text file or E-mail created in step 3.

    SP2000 Linux release 13.46.0
  6. Execute the following command on the working AMC121 CPU to verify the Application software load version.

    ls -l /opt/cpu_ss7gw/current
  7. Make a note of the value returned by this command and enter it into the text file or E-mail created in step 3.

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 Aug 23 13:03 /opt/cpu_ss7gw/current -> stp_sp2k_12_6_0_nb20170206
  8. Execute the following command on the working AMC121 CPU to identify the current license capability.

    w_showlicense
  9. Make note of the list of licenses for the features on the working AMC121 CPU as returned by this command, and enter this information into the text file or E-mail created in step 3.

Press the spacebar until the license information is displayed for both AMC121 CPUs (slots 14 and 24).

  10. Execute the following command to verify the MAC address and the serial number of the working AMC121 CPU.

    w_show_mac_serial
  11. Make a note of the values returned by this command and enter them into the text file or E-mail created in step 3.

    Note

If the data is displayed for two AMC121 CPUs, only the data for the working AMC121 CPU should be included in the license request letter.

    MGMT - slot14_0:
    MAC Address
    Readable: 00:80:50:04:de:d8
    CutPaste: 00805004ded8
    Serial Number: 562904
  12. Make a note of the serial number and MAC address shown on the labels of the new (replacement) AMC121 CPU and enter them into the text file or E-mail created in step 3.

    Tip

The MAC address labeling is on the back of the AMC121 (see the side with no heat sink). There may be one or two MAC addresses listed. The MAC address required to generate a license key has a hex value for which the last digit is higher than the lowest listed MAC address by 2.

For example, if you see a single MAC address of 00:80:50:05:0c:c2, use 00:80:50:05:0c:c4 to license. If you see two values 00:80:50:05:0c:62 and 00:80:50:05:0c:64, use 00:80:50:05:0c:64 to license.

  13. Send the E-mail or text file started in step 3 to Customer Support so that new license keys can be generated (refer to Customer Support). Refer to section Apply New License - 13U after USB key restore for applying the new license keys.
