The following CPU types are supported on the Ribbon DSC 8000:
- Management CPU (permanent cards; no commissioning or decommissioning is required)
- Routing CPU
Application CPU [may be Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) DB and SS7 Database Application (SDA)]
On the DSC 8000, the DSC and SIGTRAN traffic are supported on the Routing CPU (can be the same CPU but different subnets).
On the DSC 8000, the DSC Database (DB) is supported on an Application CPU.
For more information about these CPUs, see the appropriate section in the DSC 8000 Hardware Installation Guide.
The commissioning and decommissioning process for these CPU cards is not the same. For detailed information about commissioning and decommissioning CPUs, see the appropriate sections, as required, at Installing System Cards and Extracting System Cards, respectively.
Consider the following for the commissioning process:
- for commissioning Routing CPUs, the procedure is provided in this section (see Commissioning a Routing CPU)
- for SDA Application CPUs, contact Customer Support for assistance.
- for DSC DB Application CPUs, the procedure is provided in this section (see Commissioning a DSC DB Application CPU)
Consider the following for the decommissioning process:
- for Routing CPUs, the procedure is provided in this section (see Decommissioning a Routing CPU)
- for SDA Application CPUs, contact Customer Support for assistance.
- for DSC DB Application CPUs, the procedure is provided in this section (see Decommissioning a DSC DB Application CPU)
