In this section:

Virtual Switch (vSwitch) acts as an interface to connect physical Ethernet adapters with virtual Ethernet adapters (connected to DSC SWe VMs). Prior to deploying and creating a DSC SWe VM, you must have the minimum required vSwitches created, for example, MGMT0, HA0 and PKT0 and if required PKT1.

Creating a vSwitch in VMware ESXi host

Perform the following steps to create a vSwitch in the VMware ESXi host.

  1. Log in to the VMware ESXi host using your Web browser.

     

  2. In the Navigator Pane, select Networking. 
       

       

  3. Click Virtual switches.

  4. Click Add standard virtual switch.

     

  5. Configure the attributes as required.

  6. Click Add.

     

  7. Click Port groups.

       

  8. Click Add port group.



  9. Configure the attributes as required.


  10. Click Add.

Network Interface Card Teaming for a Standard vSwitch

Perform the following steps to add another Network Interface Card [(NIC) (can be referred to as a network adapter)] to a standard vSwitch.

Note

It is assumed that you are already logged onto the VMware ESXi host using your Web browser. For information about the supported Web browsers, refer to User Interfaces Overview.

  1. Click Networking.
       

  2. Click Virtual switches.
        

  3. Click the required Virtual switch.

         

  4. Click Actions.
       

  5. Select Uplink in the drop-down menu.
        

  6. Click Edit Settings.
        

  7. Configure the required attributes to set the failover order, fallback, detection, and so on.
