This section describes the DSC - SP2000 user interfaces (UIs) and provides instructions for using these UIs.

The DSC - SP2000 Platforms support a customized Linux-based operating system and the following UIs:

  • Web-based UI (referred to as Web UI in this guide)

  • Text-based UI (referred to as Menu UI in this guide)
Note

The Menu UI is supported for software upgrade/rollback, initial configuration, and time zone changes. For more information about this topic, refer to the Upgrade Guides, Installation Guides, and the Setting System Date and Time section in the DSC - SP2000 Platform Manager User Guide.

You can access these UIs from the DSC - SP2000 Main Menu (referred to as Main Menu in this guide, refer to Main Menu Access).

Note

The Web UI is accessible using a Web browser. 

The following Web browsers are supported for this release:
  • MS Edge
  • Firefox: 52.6.0 ESR, 58
  • Chrome: 64 and above

Note

Microsoft Internet Explorer is the supported web browser for the SS7 Database Application (SDA) on DSC 8000. You cannot access the SDA System Manager GUI using an unsupported web browser.

The Menu UI is accessible through the DSC - SP2000 Platform's IP address using an SSH session. For information about connecting to the DSC Platform and the system’s IP configuration, refer to the appropriate sections in the Installation GuidesFor information about connecting to the SP2000 and the system’s IP configuration, contact Customer Support for the SP2000 installation guide. 

The Main Menu includes the following two sections:

Caution

You must use the UIs to perform all configuration and management tasks. Any manual manipulation of the configuration files may corrupt your system and, therefore, interfere with system performance.

Caution

The DSC is a closed network device. Custom modifications at the Linux level are not allowed or supported. These modifications can cause stability, update, and fail-over issues.

You should only configure the DSC using the supported interfaces (refer to User Interfaces for the DSC Platforms).
