This section describes how to prepare for and physically install a Sonus SBC 1000 system.

Installing the Sonus SBC 1000 Chassis in an Equipment Rack

The Sonus SBC 1000 chassis can be installed in a standard 19-inch, 2-post or 4-post equipment rack by attaching the rack mounting ears to the front attachment points on both sides of the chassis.

To Install Sonus SBC 2000 in a 2-Post Equipment Rack

  1. Attach the 2 rack mounting ears securely to the front mounting points on both sides of the Sonus SBC 1000 chassis.
  2. Attach the 2 rack mounting ears securely to the mounting posts of the equipment rack. Refer to the illustration below for visual details of the installation (click to enlarge).

Installing Ground Wire, Power Cables and Connect Power

After you have completed the physical installation of the Sonus SBC 1000 chassis, connect the grounding wire and power cables

To Install the Grounding Wire and Power Cables

  1. Connect a grounding wire to the grounding bolt on the left side of the rear panel, in accordance with System Grounding Requirements.
  2. Connect power cords to the power supply and electrical sockets.

 

DO NOT INSTALL EITHER Sonus or TELECOM CABLES. You must complete the Initial Configuration before connecting the Sonus SBC 1000 system to your network.
