This section describes how to configure the DS1 port types (T1/E1) on the Sonus SBC 1000/2000 system. Using this feature sets the DS1 ports on the SBC 1000/2000 to either T1 or E1. In most geographical area only T1 or E1 is available. However, in some countries both are available and the SBC may be required to support both simultaneously.
Sonus SBC 2000 T1/E1 Ports
T1/E1 ports on the Sonus SBC 2000 are provided via removable T1/E1 PSTN Interface cards. The Sonus SBC 2000 supports up to two T1/E1 PSTN Interface cards with a maximum of 16 physical T1/E1 ports. The T1/E1 PSTN Interface cards are available with 8 T1/E1 ports licensed individually. Each Sonus SBC 2000 T1/E1 PSTN Interface Card provides two four-port spans, each span is individually configurable as either T1 or E1.
Sonus SBC 1000 T1/E1 Ports
T1/E1 ports on the Sonus SBC 1000 are provided via two non-removable module cards (each card provides two ports; each port is licensed individually).
Two T1/E1 Ports on the SBC 1000 are available only if running SBC 1000 v2 hardware and SBC Release 6.0.0 or later; previous releases support one T1/E1 port only.
