The SBC 5400 server is preinstalled with three platform software components; BMC firmware, BIOS firmware, and ConnexIP Operating System (OS). Initially, the user is only expected to install the SBC application software. The SBC application package is a compressed tar file located in the /opt/sonus/external
directory of the SBC platform. The application package is uploaded and installed using the EMA platform mode GUI. See SBC 5400 - Installing Application for details.
New updates to the pre-installed components and application are available as part of the normal software maintenance cycle. Ribbon recommends to always use the latest version of all firmware and software components for optimum performance and to take advantage of the latest enhancements. Download software or firmware updates from the Ribbon Support Portal to upgrade your system. Refer to Downloading SBC 5400 Software for guidance.
Before installing the SBC 5400 application, the SBC hardware must be racked, cabled, and powered up according to procedures provided in Installing SBC 5400 Hardware.
