Configuring the Client Side ISDN PRI (PRI/GW)

This section outlines how to configure the client side ISDN PRI.

To Configure the Client Side ISDN PRI (PRI/GW)

  1. Choose Network > ISDN > Client.

  2. Select the Enable PRI/GW services checkbox and click Submit to activate fields on the Client Side ISDN PRI (PRI/GW) page.

  3. Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide. When you have finished configuring settings, click Submit to make your changes take effect.

Client Side ISDN PRI (PRI/GW) Parameters

    ItemDescription

    Enable PRI/GW service

Select the PRI/GW service check-box to enable service.

    Select PRI line

Choose a T1 line for ISDN PRI from the Select PRI line drop-down list. The valid range is 1-4 based on the number of T1 lines available on a given

    platform.

Trunk Switch TypeEnter the switch type that client-side ISDN PRI will be simulating. NI2 is selected by default. The switch type must match the Network-side switch type to which this interface is connected.
D ChannelChoose a number from the D Channel drop-down list to use for Q.931 signaling.
    Enable Overlap Receive

Note: This option is only available for the EURO switch type and on the

     6000 platform.

Enables Overlap Digit Receive from the network side. All digits are collected and sent en bloc in the outgoing INVITE message on the SIP side. All User to Network calls are sent en bloc, with sending complete IE added in the SETUP message.

    B Channel order descending (optional)

Select the B Channel checkbox to change B channel order to descending (24-1). B channel ordering is ascending (1-24) by default when doing a call setup.

Internal clockingSelect the Internal clocking checkbox to set the internal clocking mode for PRI. External clocking is used by default.

    International Prefix

Enter a value in the International Prefix field.

    Jitter buffer (MS)

Enter the jitter buffer value based on the IP network condition. Value is equal to or greater than 40 msecs. The default is 100 msecs.

    Jitter Type

Choose the Jitter buffer type from the drop-down list:

    • Fixed—Default
    • Adaptive

TX Gain to PRI Trunk from IP

Choose a transmit gain value from the TX Gain to PRI Trunk from the IP drop-down list.

RX Gain from PRI Trunk to IP

Choose a receive gain value from the RX Gain from PRI Trunk to IP drop-down list.

    SIP Server Settings

    Configure the following settings.

    Register with SIP server (optional)

Enable Register with SIP server if your SIP service provider requires endpoints to register with their service. The SIP Authentication name and password are used in the registration request.

Register FROM Username (To IP network)

Enter a name to register with the PRI/GW.

This value is used in the SIP FROM field on calls from the PRI to the IP Network when the calling party name is not present on the PRI.

    SIP Authentication name (Optional)

(Optional) Enter the SIP authentication name used to authenticate the PRI/GW if the gateway registers with name defined in the Register FROM Username field.

Always override FROM UsernameCheck this box to force the "FROM username to IP network" field is always overridden by the configured Register/Override FROM username.
Preserve Emergency Caller numberCheck this box to prevent Edgemarc from overriding the calling party number on emergency calls in the PRI to IP direction.

Override FROM Display Name (To IP Network)

Enter a name to override the system default DISPLAY name when sending an SIP request to the IP side.

An Inbound call coming into PRI/GW from the remote PRI/T1 link is terminated on IP network. By default, the gateway uses this name as part of the DISPLAY name in the SIP FROM header.

Refer to the Header Transformation page if you want to override the FROM domain name. Click the Header Transformation link or choose VoIP > SIP > ALG and refer to Configuring VoIP SIP B2BUA Trunking.

    Disable sending CNAME

Select the Disable sending CNAME checkbox so that the display name is not sent in FACILITY_IE as part of the Q931 SETUP message. The display name of the calling party is sent using FACILITY_IE in the SETUP message by default.

This setting applies to NI2, 5ESS, and 4ESS PRI switch types.

    Override FROM Username (To PRI)

Define FROM name to be sent to PRI. This FROM name overrides the SIP FROM coming from the IP network if defined.

Codec PreferenceSelect your codec preference from the Codec Preference drop-down list. When making a call, the codec is the first offered codec in the codec list. When receiving a call, if that codec is part of the negotiated codec list, that codec is used to encode and send voice packets.

    Use Preferred codec only

Select the Use Preferred codec only check-box to use your selected codec preference as the only codec offered or responded to in the call setup. All other calls are rejected.

    Enable RTCP

Select the Enable RTCP checkbox to enable RTCP support for voice media.

Enable VADSelect the Enable VAD checkbox to enable Voice Activity Detection (VAD) support for voice media.
    Enable V6 Media Support

Enabling this option allows V6 media support on PRI. The default value is "disabled".

Note: This configuration only applies to 4806, 4800, and 6000 systems.

This will determine the format of the selected channel in the Channel ID Information Element of the outgoing Setup Message. If the Channel Number is selected, then the format of the channel will be Channel Number. If Slotmap is selected, the indicated channel will be in a slotmap format. For incoming ISDN calls, the format indicated in the incoming SETUP message will be followed, regardless of this setting.
Note: This feature is only available in the Japan trunk switch type.
