Caution

Do not remove both MCH cards at the same time. At least one of these cards is required to maintain communication within the chassis and with remote networks.

The AMC671 is the high-performance, fault-tolerant MicroTCA Carrier Hub (MCH, see AMC671 MCH Faceplate) that provides Ethernet switch functionality for the DSC 8000. This MCH is presented as a double-wide, full-size (148.8 x 28.95 x 181.5 mm) form factor, and complies with a variety of PICMG specifications.

The MCH is paired with a redundant MCH for five-nines availability and synchronization to prevent the loss of event information. The MCH in slot 1 is MCH1 and in slot 14 is MCH2. A dedicated MCH-to-MCH link allows redundant MCHs to synchronize management data for failover. (Refer to Installing RMC670 (µRTM) 10/100Base-T Cable Links.) Inter-shelf connectivity, if required, is achieved using the FP1 and FP2 connectors AMC671 Faceplate.

The MCH can be hot-swap serviced without the need to remove any cabling.

The MCH may contain environmentally hazardous materials. You must dispose of any such materials in accordance with your local rules and regulations. For disposal and recycling information, contact your local authorities or the Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) at https://www.itu.int/en/ITU-T/gsc/Pages/default.aspx.

For information about Ribbon's compliance with the RoHS and WEEE Directives refer to Agency Approvals and Safety Information. For information about detailed specifications, refer to DSC 8000 Specifications.

Note

Routing IP traffic is transmitted on either 10 Gbps FP3 or FP4 ports located on the RMC670 (µRTM) faceplate, but traffic is not transmitted on both simultaneously.
