Note

The following section is only applicable to the DSC 8000, the DSC SWe (on MA-RMS), the Signaling Platform 2000 (SP2000), and the virtual SP2000 (on MA-RMS).

As described in section Area B (refer to Options for Provisioning Traffic on the AMC308Options for Provisioning Traffic on the AMC348 or Options for Provisioning Traffic on the PCE382), the Local Pass Through enables you to transparently pass TDM data that the Ribbon Signaling System is not terminating on one port of the AMC308, the AMC348, or the PCE382 to another port on this card. These unused timeslots can then be accessed by other node equipment.

The example in following figure shows a Local Pass Through configuration where a T1 link is connected to Port 1 on an AMC308, AMC348, or PCE382. The first four timeslots are terminated signaling links. These timeslots must be mapped to Signaling Channels to create interprocess communication (IPC) connections to MTP3 so that message routing for voice and data can occur on these Signaling Channels. Timeslots 5 through 24 are mapped to Port 2 and are being passed through, making them available to other node equipment.

Any timeslot on the T1 or E1 link that is designated for SS7 signaling can be terminated at a Signaling Channel using the mapping process, as long as each Signaling Channel terminates a different timeslot.
