This page describes the procedure for installing new or additional Feature/Supplemental license keys.

 For steps on obtaining and installing licenses for

To Install a License Key:

  1. In the WebUI, click the Settings tab.

  2. In the left navigation pane, go to System > Licensing > Install New License.

    Install New License

  3. Copy the license key from the email you received from
    Unable to show "metadata-from": No such page "_space_variables"
    .

  4. Paste the license key into the text box.Click Apply.

  5. Once the license is applied, the following message is displayed.

    Restart Message

  6. Click OK to reboot the system.

The license must contain the correct number of TDM ports in the system. An alarm is generated when the license key applied has more TDM ports licensed than are installed in the system, and the license key is rejected.

Where to Find the Hardware and Software IDs

Viewing the Software Version and Hardware ID (SBC 1000/2000)

The SBC 1000/2000 software version and build number shown is the based on the firmware running on the active partition:

  1. In the WebUI, click the System tab.

  2. In the System page, click the Overview tab.

Viewing the Software Version and Hardware ID (SBC SWe Lite)

WARNING - IF YOUR LICENSE FORMAT IS NOT VERSION 3 (OR YOU DO NOT KNOW) PERFORM THE FOLLOWING STEPS BEFORE UPGRADING YOUR SBC SWE LITE SOFTWARE

The License Format Version 2 is obsolete as of the SBC SWe Lite Release 8.0.4 and later 8.0.x releases (refer to the License Types - Availability table). You can no longer download any SBC SWe Lite software from Ribbon that supports License Format Version 2. Before you upgrade your SBC SWe Lite software, you must determine whether you should contact Ribbon Support to acquire a License Format Version 3 to enable features.

Log into your SBC SWe Lite to locate and record the Software Version (use the information in this Viewing the Software Version and Hardware ID section). Perform the following based on your Software Version:

  • If your Software Version is 8.0.4 or a later 8.0.x release, upgrade the SBC SWe Lite to your desired software release version.
  • If your Software Version is 8.0.3, locate and record the License Version. If your License Version is
    • Version 3, upgrade the SBC SWe Lite to your desired software release version; or
    • Version 2, perform the following steps:
      1. Contact Ribbon Support for a courtesy (free of charge) feature equivalent to the SBC SWe Lite License Format Version 3.
      2. Update the SBC SWe Lite with the newly received license file (formatted to Version 3), and confirm all features previously available prior to the license update are present.
      3. Upgrade the SBC SWe Lite to your desired software release version.
  • If your Software Version is 8.0.2 or earlier, your License Format Version is 2. Contact Ribbon Support for software upgrade instructions.

The SBC SWe Lite software version and build number shown is the based on the firmware running on the active partition. The SBC SWe Lite ID displays the license format source loaded on the SBC SWe Lite. Three license sources are displayed in the license screen:

  • SBC SWe Lite ID. Specifies the SBC SWe Lite ID for SBC SWe Lite License Format Version 3.

  • License Version. The license version active on the SBC SWe Lite:

    • Version 2 - SBC SWe Lite License Format Version 2

      Caution

      The License Format Version 2 is obsolete as of the SBC SWe Lite Release 8.0.4 and later 8.0.x releases. For more information, refer to the SBC SWe Lite License Format Overview.

    • Version 3 - SBC SWe Lite License Format Version 3

  1. In the WebUI, click the System tab.

  2. In the System page, click the Overview tab.

    Caution

    For the SWe Lite Release 8.0.3 or earlier, see the License Format warning if you have a License Format Version 2.
