SBC 5400 hardware platform provides additional management ports which can be configured with the licenses for of the following three packet port configuration:

  • One packet port with 10Gb/s speed mode.
    • The 10Gb mode always operates on media port 0.
    • The 10Gb mode requires the media ports:1, 2, and 3 to be inactive.
  • Four packet ports with 1Gb/s speed mode.

SBC 5400 does not require any additional licenses to configure two packet ports with 1Gb/s speed mode.

The following two new licenses are added to SBC 5400 to support packet port configuration:

  • SBC-4X1GMP
  • SBC-1X10GMP

The sub-system, Node Routing Service (NRS), is responsible for enabling or activating the management and packet ports in SBC 5400 system and Logical Volume Manager (LVM) is the subsystem that monitors those ports. Each of these sub-systems are modified to check both the configuration and the licensing. Media port operating in 10GbE mode supports 10GB/s speed with full duples and autonegatiations is unsupported in this mode. And media ports operating in 1GbE mode supports auto-negotiation with advertised capabilites of 1Gb/s speed in full duplex mode.
