Joining the ASM to a domain may impact the availability of services on the ASM such as Remote Desktop (1,2,3) by denying access to these services through security policies. SHA2-256 CA Certificates may be used for the SBA, SBC, and Lync 2013 Servers. However, the certificates on ALL devices must be SHA2-256. Lync 2010 requires that all devices employ either ALL SHA1 or ALL SHA2 Certificates. 
 
Therefore, if any device (SBC, SBA, or Lync Server) is upgraded to SHA2-256, then all other devices must be upgraded as well.
