SHA2-256 Certificate Usage Caution

SHA2-256 Certificate Compatibility

SHA2-256 CA Certificates may be used for the SBA, SBC, and Lync 2013 Servers. However, the certificates on ALL devices must be SHA2-256. Lync 2010 requires that all devices employ either ALL SHA1 or ALL SHA2 Certificates.

Therefore, if any device (SBC, SBA, or Lync Server) is upgraded to SHA2-256, then all other devices must be upgraded as well.

For more information see the Microsoft SHA1 Deprecation Policy for more information.
