To complete the deployment, you must start the following Lync Services on the ASM in order for it to function as a Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA):

  1. Lync Server, Front-End Service
  2. Lync Server, Mediation Service

At this stage those services are Not Running, you can verify this by Viewing the ASM Operational Status:

  1. Click the Start SBA Services

  2. A series of status messages will be dispatched:
    1. The Lync services are started:

Verifying the Lync SBA Services are Running

When Viewing the ASM Operational Status, these services will appear as Running as shown below:

Tip

The Lync services can be stopped (and restarted) at anytime. See Starting and Stopping SBA Services
