This technical guide shows how to configure the SBC Edge with a Tenor AF/AX for fax connection.
This document provides basic guidelines, and assumes the user has a working knowledge of the following products:
- The SBC 1000/2000
- Tenor AFM200
Deployed software versions in this document are:
...
Basic configuration information for these products can be found in the Best Practices section.

Note |
---|
This procedure detailing configuration of the SBC 1000/2000 and Tenor AFM200 assumes configuration in the country of France using G711A / G.711A / a-law. Other countries such as USA and Japan use the corresponding G711U / G.711U / µ-Law. Verify you are using the proper protocol for the country in which the configuration is taking place. |
...
Perform the steps below to configure the SBC 1000/2000 for the interconnection scenario.
Use the SBC 1000 web interface and search for the objects below to help with navigation.
...
Note |
---|
The T.38 protocol optimizes the interconnection reliability of a fax over IP networks. |

Fax Media List
Create a dedicated Fax Media List with the following codecs in the order shown below, this allows the fax to negotiate the T.38 during connection:

SIP Registrar Table
- Create an SBC 1000/2000 SIP Registrar table so the Tenor can register each of its analog ports as a SIP User Agent into the SBC 1000/2000.
- Enter as many number of Users as expected analog ports to be registered:

Tenor Call Routing Table
Create a Call Routing Table for Tenor, as shown below to route a fax call from Tenor to PSTN through the SBC Edge.
Note |
---|
If the call format doesn't does not need to be transformed (Ex. 1001 to +133123451001), use any “Passthrough untouched” transformation table. |

Tenor Signaling Group
- Create the Tenor SIP Signaling Group which allows the SBC 1000/2000 to send and receive SIP calls to/from the Tenor with the following parameters (created previously).
- Verify that the values in the Port and Protocol fields in the Listen Ports panel configured for the Tenor are the same when configuring the SBC1000/2000.
Tenor Transformation Table
Create a dedicated transformation table to be able to receive a fax on the SBC 1000 and forward it to the Tenor, depending on the fax numbers to be routed from the SBC 1000 to Tenor.
Info |
---|
For example, to route all calls from extension range 1xxx to Tenor, enter similar data in the Description field as shown in figure below. |

PSTN Incoming Call Routing Table entry table adaptation
Adapt the existing Call Routing Table “From PSTN to Tenor” to insert a call routing entry to evaluate if incoming call is toward a fax number (see previously created Transformation Table) and route it to the Tenor Signaling Group:

Note |
---|
This call routing entry needs to be re-ordered at the top of the Call Routing Table “From PSTN to Tenor” if there are multiple entries, if not, it will never be evaluated and the calls to 1xxx will never go to the Tenor. |
...
Select the Advanced Explore tab to access all parameters.

SIP Signaling Group
In SIP Signaling Group-1, enter the following information and verify the checked/unchecked boxes are as shown below.
Note |
