The Classification Rules page allows you to classify a flow of traffic into classes of service based on an IP address, traffic direction, transport protocol, and source and destination ports. Rules are created marking each packet in the flow with the configured DSCP value. The packet then enters the traffic shaper. Based on the DSCP value, the shaper applies the prioritization and bandwidth guarantees of the class of service to which the packet belongs.
Devices that use VoIP ALG (phones, video stations, etc.) are already marked as high priority. All data from IP addresses in the Classification Rules list have the same priority as voice data.
To configure classification rules:
- Choose Network > Traffic Shaper > Advanced.
Click Classification Rules to open the Classification Rules configuration page.
Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide. When you have finished configuring settings, click Add to make your changes take effect.
