V.90 modem is only supported on certain EdgeMarc devices.

You can use the V.90 Modem Settings page to configure the V.90 out-of-band management console. A remote user can use a modem to dial into the system. Once modem negotiation is complete, the remote user is prompted for a system password. After the remote user has logged in, they have the same access as someone logged into the serial console port on the system.

To Configure the V.90 Modem Settings

  1. Choose Admin > V.90 Modem.

  2. Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide.

    Enable modem login

    Select the Enable modem login checkbox to enable console login on the V.90 port.

    Enable auto-answer

    Select the Enable auto-answer checkbox to allow automatic answering on the modem port.

    When the modem and auto-answer are enabled, the modem answers a call after the configured number of “Rings until auto-answer.”

    Rings until auto-answer

    Enter the number of rings before the modem automatically answers incoming calls. Both modem and auto-answer must be enabled.

    Modem Init Chat

    (Optional) Enter a modem init chat string if an additional configuration is required. The typical string contains commands followed by the expected response from the modem. Spaces must separate the commands and responses.

  3. Click Submit to make your changes take effect.
  4. A message indicates that service will be temporarily interrupted. Click OK to confirm.
