The Network Information page shows details of your system network configuration.

  1. Choose Network > Network Information.

  2. The following table describes information displayed on the Network Information page.

Network Information Parameters

ItemDescription
Routing Information

Displays static routes for hosts and networks configured on the EdgeMarc.

The system routing table contains routes for hosts and networks that are configured on the system. When the LAN and WAN settings have been fully configured, there must be four routing lines displayed:

  • Subnet associated with the LAN interface
  • Subnet associated with the WAN interface
  • Loopback interface
  • Network default gateway (most of the time directed to the WAN interface)

The order of the lines may vary depending on the subnet masks.

Additional lines may be displayed depending on the contents of the static routes entered in the Static Route page.

Each of the entries on these pages creates an additional entry in the routing table.

Go to Network > Static Route and refer to Configuring Static Routes.

Link Status

Shows status of the Ethernet interfaces.

The status of the Ethernet connections is displayed by Link Status. Ethernet autonegotiation is often unreliable, especially between different vendors or old and new networking equipment.

Occasionally autonegotiation fails, but this is generally not a cause for concern. However, if the negotiated rates change intermittently, or the link is reported as down or no link, the link rate may need to be set manually on the Switch Ports configuration page. Choose Switch from the Configuration Menu and refer to Configuring Switch Ports.

Intermittent data, and voice outages may be caused by autonegotiation “flutter.” If the link rate is set manually, ensure that the device at the far end of the connection can communicate at the desired rate. Incompatible rates can cause a loss of communication with the system.

Interface Information

Shows status and configuration information for the system interfaces.

You may need the interface eth0 MAC address to license the VoIP feature if the license information attached to the system is lost or is unreadable.

Interface statistics can point to areas of congestion in the network. If the congestion is not corrected, the voice call quality is affected. Any errors should be examined and your network topology modified to better segment and isolate network traffic.
