1. Choose VPN > PPTP Server.

  2. Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide. When you have finished configuring settings, click Submit to make your changes take effect.

    PPTP Server Parameters

    Enable PPTP Server

    Select the Enable PPTP Server checkbox.

    IP RangeEnter the available IP addresses that are assigned to the peer PPP interface for the incoming PPTP client session. IP range format is “10.0.0.2-100.”
    WINS1(Optional) Enter a value in the WINS1 and WINS2 fields to allow network computer name resolution.

    WINS2

    Windows Internet Naming Service. Determines the IP address associated with a particular network computer.

    WINS supports network client and server computers running Windows and can provide name resolution for other computers with special arrangements. WINS uses a distributed database that is automatically updated with the names of computers currently available and the IP address assigned to each one.

    PPTP Authentication Mode

    Choose a PPTP authentication mode from the PPTP Authentication Mode drop-down list:

    MSCHAPV2+MPPE—Uses Microsoft Point to Point Encryption (MPPE)

    MSCHAPV2—(MS-CHAP v2) stronger security for remote access connections

    MSCHAP—(MS-CHAP v1) authenticates remote Windows workstations
