Use the WAN VLAN Configuration page to configure the system WAN Ethernet port to support tagged VLANs. By default, all traffic (including data and voice) is tagged with VLAN ID 1.

If WAN VLAN support is disabled on your system, the following message appears at the top of the WAN VLAN Configuration page:

"WAN VLAN is currently not the selected WAN interface. The configuration shown below will not be active until WAN VLAN is selected on the Network page."

  1. Click the  Network link provided on the WAN VLAN Configuration page.
    OR
    Choose Network from the Configuration Menu. 
  2. Scroll to WAN Interface IPv4 Settings and select the VLAN radio button. Refer to IPv4 VLAN for more information
  3. Click the  WAN VLAN Configuration link provided on the Network page or choose Network > WAN VLAN to access the WAN VLAN Configuration page.

  4. Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide. When you have finished configuring settings, click Add to make your changes take effect.

    WAN VLAN Configuration Parameters

    Displays the WAN VLAN for voice traffic.

    Note: Voice and Data cannot be separated into two different VLANs if the WAN Link Redundancy feature is enabled. So, Data WAN VLAN and Voice WAN VLAN are shown only when the WAN Link Redundancy feature is disabled.

    WAN VLANs
    Displays a list of WAN VLANs.
    • Name: Identifies the WAN VLAN configuration.
    • Interface: Specifies the interface on which WAN VLAN is created.
    • VLAN ID: Specifies the VLAN ID.
    • Type: Specifies the address type of WAN VLAN which can be Static, DHCP or PPPoE.
    • IP Address: Specifies the IPv4 address of WAN VLAN.
    • Subnet Mask: Specifies the subnet mask of WAN VLAN IPv4 address.
    • IPv4 Gateway: Specifies the IPv4 address default gateway.
    • IPv6 Address: Specifies the IPv6 address of WAN VLAN if configured so.
    • IPv6 Prefix: Specifies IPv6 prefix of IPv6 WAN VLAN address.
    • IPv6 Gateway: Specifies IPv6 address of default gateway.
    WAN VLANs - New Entry Allows you to add new WAN VLAN information.
    Action

    Select the required action from the drop-down list:

    • Create WAN VLAN - Select to create new WAN VLAN. Please note that WAN VLAN can be created only on the Primary WAN link when WAN Link Redundancy and Dual WAN Ports are disabled.
    • Edit WAN VLAN - Select to edit the required WAN VLAN from the drop-down list.
    NameEnter a unique name for the WAN VLAN configuration. Only alphanumeric characters and some special characters (underscore, hyphen and period) are allowed.
    InterfaceSelect the required interface on which WAN VLAN should be created. It can be either Primary or Secondary.
    VLAN IDEnter a VLAN ID in the range 1 to 4094.
    TypeSelect the address type of WAN VLAN from the drop-down list:
    • Static - Select Static to configure the WAN VLAN address manually. On selecting Static, you are required to enter the following information:
      • IP Address - Enter IPv4 address of WAN VLAN.
      • Subnet Mask - Enter Subnet mask of WAN VLAN IPv4 address.
      • IPv4 Gateway - Enter IPv4 address default gateway.
      • IPv6 Address - Enter IPv6 address. IPv6 address is configured only if WAN VLAN is selected for IPv6 on the Network page and IPv6 is enabled.
      • IPv6 Prefix - Enter IPv6 prefix of IPv6 WAN VLAN address.
      • IPv6 Gateway - Enter IPv6 address of default gateway.
    • DHCP - Select DHCP to get a WAN VLAN IP address via a DHCP server available on the WAN side of the network. On selecting DHCP, you can enable or disable DHCP client monitor link state.
    • PPPoE - Select PPPoE to initiate a PPP session over the WAN VLAN link. On selecting PPPoE, you are required to enter the following information:
      • PPPoE Username - Enter the username provided by your ISP.
      • PPPoE Password - Enter the PPPoE password provided by your ISP.
      • Keepalive Ping - Select the Keepalive Ping checkbox to enable keepalive ping to the PPPoE server.
    Additional WAN VLANs Displays a list of additional WAN VLANs.
    • VLAN ID: Specifies the unique VLAN ID.
    • IP Address: Specifies VLAN IP address.
    • Subnet Mask: Specifies the VLAN subnet mask.
    • IPv6 Address: Specifies VLAN IPv6 address.
    • IPv6 Prefix: Specifies VLAN IPv6 prefix.
    Additional WAN VLANs - New Entry

    Allows you to add new Additional WAN VLAN information.

    Note: Additional WAN VLANs can be created on Primary WAN Link only if WAN Link Redundancy with Dual WAN Ports is disabled. If WAN Link Redundancy is enabled, only the delete operation is allowed on the additional WAN VLANs.

    VLAN IDEnter a unique VLAN ID in the range 2 to 4094.
    IP AddressEnter the VLAN IP Address.
    Subnet MaskEnter the VLAN subnet mask.
    IPv6 AddressEnter the VLAN IPv6 Address.
    IPv6 PrefixEnter the VLAN IPv6 Prefix.

  5. To edit a WAN VLAN:

    1. Choose Edit WAN VLAN from the Action menu on the WAN VLAN Configuration page.

    2. Edit the WAN VLAN configuration settings using the information in the above table as a guide.

  6. To delete a WAN VLAN or multiple WAN VLANs simultaneously from the WAN VLAN table:
    1. Select the checkboxes corresponding to the entries you want to delete. Click All to choose all the entries or None to clear your selections.

    2. Click Delete to delete the selected WAN VLANs.

Adding, editing or deleting WAN VLAN will restart the network.

Deleting a VLAN

To delete a VLAN or multiple VLANs simultaneously from the Additional WAN VLANs table:

  1. Select checkboxes for the entries that you want to delete. Click All to choose all the entries or None to clear your selections.
  2. Click Delete to delete the selected VLANs.

    You must click Submit All to save your additional VLAN entries, deletions, and to restart the network with your current VLAN configuration.
